Lemon essential oil (Citrus Limonum) is obtained by cold pressing the rind of the fruit and is a pale yellow-green colour with a fresh, familiar aroma. It blends well with other citrus oils and Roman Chamomile, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender and Ylang Ylang.
It is a natural alternative to chemicals for warts. Gently apply a drop of Lemon oil (from the corner of a folded tissue, to make it easier) to the centre of the wart. It will not harm the surrounding skin and the wart dries out quickly.
Its cleansing antiseptic action makes it good for acne, spots and greasy skin, helping to reduce over-active sebaceous glands.
Lemon essential oil is however a mild photo-sensitiser and should not be used neat on the skin prior to exposure to direct sunlight or UV sunbeds, but when mixed with other essential oils the risk of phototoxicity is virtually nil.
